LEED and Sustainable Construction
We are proud to have capabilities and expertise to provide top quality LEED-certified projects.
Watterson Construction is dedicated to sustainability in design and construction. We currently have six LEED Accredited Professionals on staff, one Green Advantage certified employee, and we are a member of US Green Building Council (USGBC). We are actively pursuing technologies and techniques that will aid in producing sustainable buildings. Keeping an eye on the environmental impact of our methods for construction helps us to use our resources more efficiently and aids us in providing our clients with structures that are better for the environment.
Our continuous pursuit of sustainable building methods materials helps clients to actively control building life cycle costs, and improve the overall quality and functionality of the finished product.
We have developed a variety of innovative construction methods, such as:
- diversion of at least 50% of construction waste from the landfill
- construction methods which improve the air quality in the completed building
Life Cycle Cost
Many of the concepts included in the LEED program also minimize life cycle cost. High-performance window glazing, improved framing techniques, additional insulation and selection of energy efficient lighting and equipment will reduce the energy use of the building.
